Our team / Austria

The SMartAT project is led by Andrea Wälzl and Sabine Kock. Both work for the Association of Independent Theatre (IGFT), set up in 1989. IGFT represents the interests of theatre, dance and performance artists and workers. Its central mission is to put into motion lasting improvements in working conditions as well as better visibility for the independent theatre scene.

Andrea Wälzl

Andrea Wälzl has a strong economic and legal background and is currently the IGFT’s Office Manager. The bulk of her work at IGFT is her advisory position for artists concerning job related questions about social security, tax law, project organisation, subsidies, etc.

Katharina Dilena

Katharina Dilena studied Art History and Cultural Management and works with artists in the fine arts and performance sector. Her work in advocacy for performing artists and board member of the IGFT means she has a deep understanding of difficulties encountered by creative professional.

Sabine Kock

Sabine Kock has been living and working in Vienna as a cultural worker and philosopher since 2000. She became manager of the IGFT in 2003, and has been head of the board of Austria’ cultural council (Kulturrat Österreich) since 2005. Together with the IGFT and many others she initiated the informal European Off Network (EON) in 2005.
