First visit of the Effergy Energy team to the Maldives Islands as part of the Maldives Islands Preparation for Sustainable Energy Development project funded by the Asian Development Bank.
During the first three weeks of June a team of experts from Effergy Energía visited the Maldives Islands to work together with the authorities of the country, the staff of the electricity company and users in the development of the mentioned project.
The objective of this visit was to share the preliminary studies carried out by Effergy with the other actors involved, as well as collect technical, financial, environmental and social information essential for the continuation of the project’s development.
The team deployed to the islands, composed of five experts, technicians and social and economic experts, visited the islands of Kurendhoo, Goidhoo, Addu City, Villingily and Buruni preselected by the Ministry of Energy and Environment. On this island, he examined the land to analyze the possibilities of installing renewable energy, he visited the electrical installations to carry out a first assessment of his state and he met with authorities and user groups to exchange opinions.
At the end of the view In Male, the capital of the country, a workshop was held with the authorities and managers of the electric company to share and validate the conclusions of the visit to the islands. Later, the project coordinator Alfonso Sevilla had the opportunity to participate and present the conclusions in a seminar organized by the Asian Development Bank for the analysis of the electricity sector.
